Injuries aboard ship in glacier collapse

Up to 18 holidaymakers, including some from the UK, may be entitled to accident compensation after being involved in a holiday accident while on a cruise ship off the north coast of Norway.

The holiday accident occurred when ice from a glacier they were viewing collapsed, causing the ship to list. Several passengers were injured in the incident, four of which were flown to a mainland Norwegian hospital, while a further fourteen were treated at local hospital on the Svalbard Islands.

Any future accident compensation claims will likely centre on the fact that the ship may have been much closer to the glacier than is considered safe.

The company running the sightseeing ship company will be bracing themselves in readiness for an influx of no win, no fee accident compensation claims after the first accident in its 25-year operating history.
